Must Haves- Food & Other! Requested!

I received an e-mail requesting a post on what my go to foods are.  This is a difficult question as my dietary choices differ from day to day.  Ex. one day I might obsess over protein, in which case my go to food would be tuna and protein smoothies.  The next day I may decide a liquid diet is the way to go, in which case I would reach for only low-cal liquids.  The day after I might be stressing over calorie counting, blood sugar, electrolytes, vitamins & minerals... etc, etc., etc.  My list of obsessions is too long to list and definitely changes day-to-day.  So as a response to this request, I thought I would instead list all the products food & other that I regularly purchase and keep on hand.  Might I add, everyone's go-to list is different, these are my personal Must-Haves!  Please bare with me this is going to be one hell of a substantial post!

In My Fridge

1. Nestle Pure Life Bottled Water. Calories Per Serving: 0. (1 bottle)  I am a bit of a freak when it comes to measurements and consumption.  Bottled Water makes it easy to track my intake, mix in "on the go" packets of Crystal Light or Xenadrine and eliminates the need to worry about all the contaminates in tap water.  Yes, I obsess over that too.

2. Redbull Sugar-Free. Calories Per Serving: 10. (1 can)  Provides extra energy when needed.  Cans are small enough to pop in your purse for a much needed energy boost later in the day when on the go.  Might I also add that at 100 calories less than Original Redbull, this is the one to buy.

3. Diet Coke. Calories Per Serving: 0. (1 bottle)  A sugar-free, calorie-free beverage.  What's not to love.  Caffeinated, for a small energy boost.  Bonus, it's wonderfully carbonated which helps with feeling fuller, longer.

4. Silk Pure Almond Beverage. Calories Per Serving: 60. (250 ml).  Comes in Original, Vanilla and Chocolate flavors.  I use it in place of cream/milk in my coffee and in my protein smoothies.

 5. Mott's Garden Cocktail Low Sodium.  Calories Per Serving: 50. (250 ml). The jug is cheaper, however I prefer to buy the 6-pack of single serve bottles, verses the larger bottle because it stays fresher and better tasting this way.  Low Sodium has 10 less calories than the Original and who would argue with that.

6. Trop50 Orange Juice with Pulp.  Calories Per Serving: 50. (8 oz).  I don't usually drink a lot of juice as it's high in calories and sugar.  I do keep it on hand though for those low blood sugar moments.  Which, lets face it!  happen more frequently than we'd like to admit.  I make sure to buy the kind with pulp for added fiber.

7. Danone DanActive Probiotic Yogurt Beverage.  Calories Per Serving: 70. (1 bottle)  A lower calorie yogurt in a small single serving bottle.  I like it for the probiotics, protein and calcium.

8. Danone Activia Dessert Yogurt.  Calories Per Serving: 120. (1 cup)  Yes, this is a higher calorie yogurt.  I make sure to keep it on hand for when that temptation for dessert strikes.  So much better than that inevitable binge on actual desserts, otherwise.  May I also add that with flavors like Cherry Cheesecake and Lemon Merengue, plus and amazingly creamy texture.  It stops those cravings in their tracks.  Obviously this is an indulgence, not meant for daily consumption.

9. Sargento Light Mozzarella String Cheese.  Calories Per Serving: 50. (1 stick)  First off I would like to say, I LOVE CHEESE!!!  It has got to be one for my most guilty pleasures.  I buy my cheese in individual portions like this because if I didn't, I may be liable to binge on a whole damn brick.  These taste great and there's no need to point out that added calcium is a great thing.

10. Mott's Fruitsations Unsweetened Applesauce.  Calories Per Serving: 50. (1 cup)  No need to pint out again, how much I love single serving sized anything.  These are easy to eat and digest.  Not to heavy in the stomach.  Great when plagued with low blood sugar symptoms.  I like that there is no added sugar.  Tip!  Sprinkle with cinnamon for a apple pie-esque flavor!

11. Jello Sugar-Free.  Calories Per Serving: 10. (1 cup)  Low calorie!  Low calorie!  Low calorie!  It gets all it's awesome points from just that fact alone.  Easy to eat, digest, light in the stomach.  Not much for flavor, but whatever.  It's FAT & SUGAR FREE!  Which means I turn to this again and again.
12. Jello Mousse Sugar-Free.  Calories Per Serving: 60. (1 cup)  When a chocolate craving calls, which isn't actually very often, my preferred and lower calorie option is Light, Fat-Free and Sugar-Free Hot Chocolate.  However sometimes that doesn't quite cut it, that's when I will indulge with one of these.

13. Omega Nutrition Flax Seed Oil.  Calories Per Serving:  120. (1 tbsp.)  I add this to smoothies for added omega 3's (when I'm brave enough).  Yes, there's 14 grams of fat per 1 tbsp.  However try to remember, it's a "good fat".  Yes, it still scares me away most days, but I do try to add it in when I can, it's good for the brain.

14. Renee's Yogurt Dressing. Calories Per Serving: 40. (1 tbsp).  I try whenever possible to avoid condiments and dressings other than mustard - See below.  In fact this is the only brand I will from time to time, allow myself to indulge in.  My favorites, Peppercorn Ranch, Roasted Garlic and Cucumber and Dill.  1 tbsp = 1 serving and at 40 calories per serving it is still way less that, ahem... Kraft and other similar brands.

15. French's Yellow Mustard. Calories Per Serving: 0. (1 tsp).  Most favorite condiment of all time.  Packs a huge flavor punch AND..... ZERO calories!!!  Whats not to love.

16. Kikkoman Less Sodium Soya Sauce. Calories Per Serving: 10. (1 tbsp).  A good marinade for meats.  Good taste, low cal.  I also add it to stir-fried veggies.

17. Kikkoman Less Sodium Teriyaki Sauce. Calories Per Serving: 15. (1 tbsp.)  Just as with the Soya Sauce, I use this as a marinade and to add flavor to stir-frys.  Just another option, sometimes plain gets boring.

18. Maple Leaf Naturals Cooked Chicken Breast Slices. Calories Per Serving: 70. (4 slices)  Chopped up and tossed on salads or just rolled up and munched.  Lean protein is important.

19. Maple Leaf Naturals Cooked Turkey Breast Slices. Calories Per Serving: 70. (4 slices)  Same as the chicken breast slices.  Tossed on a salad or alone with some mustard maybe?  Lean protein source.  I also like that it is preservative and additive free.  I forgot to mention that above.

20. Romain Lettuce Hearts. Calories Per Serving: 20. (6 leaves).  Although iceburg lettuce is lower in calories, I always turn to romaine lettuce for the nutrient factor.  This is the base of all my salads.

21. Baby Spinach. Calories Per Serving: 10. (1 cup).  Can you say vitamins & minerals?  Dark leafy greens are high in iron etc. etc.  We've all heard it.  I live by it.  We can all use all the vitamins and minerals we can get.  Ain't that the truth.

22. Button Mushrooms. Calories Per Serving: 20 (5 mushrooms).  Low cal and oh so yummy.  One of my faves!  I love em straight from the fridge, in a salad or sauteed!  I'll take my 'shrooms anyway.

23. English Cucumber. Calories Per Serving: 14. (1 cup).  Great to munch on as a snack or added to salads.  Love the fresh taste.  I don't peel them for added nutritional value.

24. Bell Peppers. Calories Per Serving: 30. (1 pepper).  Adds color and therefor appeal to salads and stir-fry's.  Tasty all on their own too.

25. Baby Carrots. Calories Per Serving: 30. (14 carrots).  Crunch, crunch, crunch... my typical afternoon snack.  Crunchy is great!  To me crunchy = tasty.  Chips crunch, cookies crunch... but carrots are low in calories and gratifying in the crunch department.

26. Hothouse Tomatoes. Calories Per Serving: 35. (1 tomato).  I love tomatoes.  I will sit and eat a tomato as if it were an apple.  I also couldn't imagine a salad without 'em.

27. Yellow Onions. Calories Per Serving: 25. (1 small onion).  No stir fry is complete without tons 'o' onions, also a roasted onion is sweet and to die for.

28. Fresh Garlic. Calories Per Serving: 4. (1 clove).  Same as the onion.  Stir fried or roasted.  I love me some garlic.  Good for the immune system too!

28. Granny Smith Apples. Calories Per Serving: 80. (1 medium apple).  Sliced and served with a tbsp. of all natural peanut butter.  A favorite snack of mine.

29. Green Seedless Grapes. Calories Per Serving: 68. (20 grapes).  As you can probably tell from this list I am not big on fruit.  Apples, grapes, frozen berries.  That's as adventurous as I get in the fruit department.  I much prefer my veggies.

30. Kraft 100% All Natural Peanut Butter. Calories Per Serving: 90. (1 tbsp).  Great to have, however not great to indulge in too often.  Way better than those other creamy and chunky sugar filled versions on the shelf though.  If you must have it, go natural.

Back to the Basics!

Between new meds and too much sleeping and an absolutely horrible diet this past month I have gained back almost 10 freakin' pounds.  Didn't have the guts to step on the scale this morning either.  However, starting today I am back to the basics, eating less and moving more.  I will also return to posting daily.  I will post my meals, overall calorie intake, exercise, weight and whatever else comes to mind that day.  Tired of being tired and FAT!  I want the old me back.  I WILL DO IT THIS TIME!  I AM DETERMINED!  I HAVE WILLPOWER!  I AM STRONG!

I have no idea what I weigh today, I am too scared to step on the scale.  The warm weather has left me feeling like a fat lump.  I hate summer, I hate summer for it's heat.  I hate not being able to hide behind a baggy sweater and jeans.  Liquids all day for me and walking... lotsa walking.  I was down to 155lbs. and I was so proud of myself for that, I was making progress.  Damned binging has set me back again.  Why do I always sabotage myself?  I hate food and yet it's all I think about all I want to do is b/p all day.  I won't do it... liquid fasting commencing NOW!

Feeling FAT!!!

Today I feel like a super fat ass.  Did awesome all day to keep the calories down.  I want to hit my mini goal weight of 140 in the next month.  I feel like from there any further weight-loss will be easier to imagine.  I hate the meds I'm currently on for keeping me this huge.  Must work harder.

Back & NOT HAPPY!!!

Facebook = GRRRR!!! >.<

The whole reason for first starting my blog was to reach out to other girls in the same situation as me.  Support is always important no matter what you are going through in life.  I quickly found that on Facebook, and blogged less frequently due to the huge and loving support system I had found there.  Facebook has since locked me out of that account and I have lost all the friends I made there. :'(  This breaks my heart, I feel so alone and lost without their support, love and messages  to look forward to each day.   FB is supposed to be FREE and if I didn't abuse the site (which I didn't) I don't understand the lock out.  I am saddened by this and know of several hundred other girls this happened to as well previous to me.  However, silver lining... I will be back to blogging regularly. :)  Ally xx
